Flying with the Bishop in his ultralight

 

 

 

 

 

2012

Bishop Moulton took the Young Men for a ride in his ultralight.  We went in the winter because it was easier to land and take off on the snow.  It was a really nice day.  Each boy got a turn as well as me and Jon Jensen.  We flew over the river, chased some foxes and saw a bunch of moose.  Those who flew were Jay and Bryce Beard, Tom Bates, Phin and Jacob and Zed Jensen, Hal Roberts. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think Phin did a really nice job on this blog.  I am starting to try to organize my myriads of photos, including those from scouts and will post them on here.  It will try to fill in the blanks where Phin left off.  I'm hoping that we can have a nice way to remember some of our experiences and the things we did together.  I really miss these boys and have felt a loss since the boundaries were redefined.  I hope that all of these boys get their Eagle Scout award and serve missions.

St. Anthony Sand Dunes

We went to the Saint Anthony Sand Dunes April 2011. It was super fun. It was a District camp-out, so there were a couple other scout troops. It was very windy. Our tent (almost) blew away. It was a good thing that me (phin) and Jay found it.

January 2011 Campout

This January, the scouts went on a campout. We went up to Bate's Lodge, built snowcaves, but never slept in them. Brother Bates and Tom had built an Igloo a while before, and some of the scouts slept in that. Phin's snowcave was getting really big -- almost big enough to sleep in -- when it collapsed on Jay. Luckily we got him out in only a minute and a half or so, and he was fine. Attendance: Phin, Jay, Seth, Russel, Kaleb, Jacob, Tom, Brother Bates, Jon, and Cory.

Pow-Wow November 2010

On November 2, 2010, some of the scouts went to the Pow-Wow. Here are the scout's names:

It was fun. They had the "Carpentry" Merit badge, which is one of the 2010 Only Merit Badges.

Scout Camp 2010

We had a full load of boys last week at scout camp Aug. 2 through Aug. 7.  Those who attended were Bryce, Jacob, AJ, Jay, Russel, Phin, Tom, Kaleb and Russel's cousin Joshua.  We climbed table rock and won the spirit stick.  All the boys did well and got lots of merit badges.

3/14/14  I was updating photos on my computer and came across this video of that scout trip.  I will also post some pictures of climbing table rock.

Big Eddy campout

Last Friday we went on a camp out to the Big Eddy. The people who came are: George, Chad R, Jon (my dad), Cory, Zed, Bryce, Jacob, me, Tom, Jay, and Bridger. Kaleb and Russel joined us in the morning.
Friday night we had a campfire program. Zed played the guitar and Bryce, Jacob and I sang Puff the Magic Dragon and Drunken Sailor. Bryce told a not-to-scary story, and then we went to bed. We heard a moose in the middle of the night.

When we woke up we started making breakfast, and that was when Russel and Kaleb came. While breakfast was cooking Jay and Bridger went to get firewood, and they saw a mother moose and its baby.
Then we found it again (I didn't see it), and everybody said that was cool.

Then we went on a hike. We had to find and identify at least 10 signs of animals, and we scored it. Bryce, Zed and Jacob all got 72 points, I got 67, and I have no idea how many other people got. We actually went on two hikes, one was 4 and a quarter miles, the other was one half a mile.

Everybody had fun (I think).
